RoomSearch

Cookie policy

Last updated: 20 October 2026

In short: RoomSearch uses no tracking or advertising cookies. We only store your preferences, in your own browser, a security cookie that protects the listings from bots and, if you sign in, a session cookie.

What we store

rs_sidCookieKeeps you signed in to your account after you sign in with Google. Only set if you sign in; removed when you sign out or delete the account.30 days (renewed while you use the site)
rs_oauthCookieProtects Google sign-in against fraud: links the trip to Google with the return to the site.10 minutes
rs_mapCookieSecurity: given when you open the map and needed to load the listings, so bots cannot copy the data by calling the server directly. It does not identify you: it only holds an expiry date and a signature.7 days (renewed while you use the site)
rp_adminCookieSession for the admin panel. Only the site administrator gets it; visitors never receive this cookie.12 hours
sw.jsService worker and notification subscriptionOnly if you turn on a new-room alert: receives and shows the notifications on this device. Removed when you delete your alerts, tap "Stop on this device" or sign out. While an alert is on

Third-party services

Fonts are served by the site itself. Map images come from OpenFreeMap, which does not use cookies. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel or any tracking tool.

Why we don't ask for consent

The law (the ePrivacy Directive; in Ireland, S.I. 336/2011) only requires consent for cookies that are not strictly necessary. Everything we use only makes the site work the way you asked, so we show a simple notice, with no "accept" buttons that hide choices.

How to delete it

In your browser settings, clear the site data for roomsearch.ie. The site keeps working; it just goes back to the default preferences.
